Meetings

Everyone is welcome to attend the meetings and sign up for the workshops. Most of our members come from southwestern Michigan, but the newsletter goes to a few folks out of state as well. Anyone who loves old houses - whether they own one yet or not - is welcome.

Meetings are scheduled throughout the year with the majority of "hands on" workshops scheduled for the winter months, usually on a Saturday. In the summer a true old house lover is busy working on the house. In the winter we want to get out and see other people. The workshops tend to be held in a house that needs the skill we are learning. So we hold a mortar repointing workshop at a 120 year old that needs new mortar or a window repair workshop in an old house scheduled for demolition or under repair by a non-profit or a wallpaper stripping day at a house with really ugly modern wallpaper. There is usually a modest charge for participation in one of the day long Saturday workshops. This covers materials, snacks and lunch.

Informational sessions tend to be on Wednesday evening most often at the downtown Kalamazoo Public Library in the Van Deusen Room. The evening informational sessions are free.
